PetMap

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 August 2026

1. Overview

This policy explains what information PetMap collects when you browse the directory, submit a business listing, or leave a review, and how we use it. It applies alongside our Terms & Conditions.

2. Information we collect

Browsing and search. Searching or filtering the directory (by service, location or pet type) is handled as part of the page request and isn't tied to an identity or stored against you.

Location. If you use “Use my location” or the “Near you” section, your browser asks permission before sharing your coordinates. We use them to find nearby listings for that request and don't store them.

Business listing submissions. If you list a business, we collect what you submit — business name, category, address/area, description, phone, email, website and social handles. This information is published on the public listing, since making it discoverable is the point of the directory.

Reviews. If you leave a review, we collect your name, rating and comment (all published), and an optional email address (kept private, used only if we need to follow up about the review).

Admin accounts. Site administrators sign in via a session cookie. This doesn't apply to visitors browsing or businesses submitting listings.

3. Cookies and local storage

We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your browser stores a small marker on your own device (not sent to us) to remember which listings you've already reviewed, so the review form doesn't ask twice. Administrator sign-in uses a session cookie needed to keep them logged in.

4. Third-party services

We use Supabase to host our database and Vercel to host the website; both process data on our behalf to run the Service. Map views load tiles from OpenStreetMap/CARTO, which may see your IP address as part of that request, under their own privacy terms. We don't currently use third-party analytics or advertising trackers — if that changes, we'll update this policy.

5. How we use your information

To operate the directory: publishing and verifying listings, displaying reviews, finding nearby results, and following up on a submission or review if needed. We don't sell your personal information.

6. Your choices

To correct or remove a business listing, or a review you left, reach out through the List your business page and reference the listing. You can also block or clear location permissions and local storage at any time from your browser settings.

7. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adults arranging pet services and businesses listing themselves, not for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date above.

9. Contact

Questions about this policy, or a request about your information, can be raised through the List your business page.
