About PetMap

Nigeria is full of pet businesses. Now it has a map.

Every vet, groomer, trainer, park and pet-friendly café in one searchable place — who to call, where to go, and what's open right now.

Finding a vet shouldn't take three group chats

Ask ten Nigerian pet owners where they found their vet and you'll get ten different answers. An Instagram page. A WhatsApp group. Someone's cousin who knows a place in Surulere.

That system works until the night it doesn't. Your groomer stops replying. You move across the city and start from zero. It's 11pm on a Sunday, something is wrong with your cat, and you're scrolling through old chats for a number you never saved.

The businesses were always there. The information was always there. Nobody had put it on a map. So we did.

Owners looking for help, and the businesses providing it. PetMap is for the people, places and services that make pet ownership easier — never a place to buy pets.

How businesses get on the map

Two doors in: we compile them from public information, or owners list them directly. Either way, a person reviews every listing before it goes live.

Compiled

Real businesses gathered from public information, so the map is useful from day one. No badge, and detail varies.

Free

Owners claim their own spot: name, category, location and contact, searchable like everything else. Free.

Verified

We've checked this one ourselves. Verified businesses carry the badge, rank above free listings and show more services and links.

Featured

The front row. Top placement in search, rotation on the homepage, photos, full weekly hours and exact on-map location.

The rules we hold ourselves to

A map you can trust has to be honest about what it knows. Here's where we draw our lines.

  • A listing is not an endorsement. The badge, or its absence, tells you exactly how well we know a business.
  • We check the businesses that register with us directly, and label every listing so you can tell at a glance which ones we've vetted.
  • We never invent details. If we can't confirm an address, a phone number or a rating, we leave it blank.
  • We don't take bookings or payments, and we don't provide the services listed. Our job is the introduction; the relationship is yours.

None of that replaces your own judgement. Before anything involving your pet's health or an overnight stay, ask to see a licence or proof of insurance. A business worth using will be glad you asked.

Map data and address lookups come from OpenStreetMap contributors.

Where this is going

PetMap started in Lagos, where the gap was loudest. Now the map is open to every state in Nigeria — every city where someone runs a business that makes owning a pet easier. From here: the continent.

Wherever you are in Africa, finding care for your pet should be a search, not a scavenger hunt.

Your pet's city is bigger than you think

Every vet, groomer, park and pet-friendly café we've found, one search away. Or put your business where owners are already looking.
